Well, I have read this article "US OFFICIALS IN EGYPT WITH PLAN TO COUNTER TUNNELS" on Snippets-and-Slappits blog. I felt like I should leave a comment, which I did. My comment include a little bit of humor. Here it goes:
Mubarak is one of three tyrants that ruled Egypt since the 1952 revolution. The first two are: Gamal Abdel Nasser (the biggest lie ever in the Egyptian history) and the second Anwar Al-Sadat (a tyrant and an American agent).
Nasser's regime was defeated by Israel in 1967 (the six-day war) which resulted in loosing more lands to Israel (Sinai, Gaza, the West Bank, and the Syrian Golan heights). The Palestinians are still suffering the consequences until today.
Sadat sold out the Palestinian in Camp David, and caused Egypt to be isolated from the rest of the Arab world.
As far as Mubarak is concerned, he is nothing but a slave; an agent to the American and his Israeli masters.
Egypt has never been a democratic country during the rein of those three clowns. Crimes have been and still are committed; killings and torture against those who would dare say anything against the regime. And the news papers are controlled. And if there're, and there is, Egyptians who don't think so, then they're nothing but stupid and collaborators.
Throughout history, Egypt has gone through lots of hard times. And as a way of survival, the Egyptians developed a very deep since of Humor. They Joke about everything including themselves.
One of the humors is related to a funny character in the Arabic culture; Joha, who is man who fits any kind of situation. He is the wisest, the most ignorant, the most stupid and the most intelligent; whatever the situation in the mind of the public is. One Joha's story reminds me with Mubarak:
Begin...
A man came came running from the furthest side of the village and shouted, “Joha, Joha, fornication has become rampant” Joha answered him, “So what! As long as it is not in my side of the village, I don’t care”
A few days later the same man came running and shouted, “Joha, Joha, fornication is now spreading in your side of the village” Joha answered him, “So what! As long as it doesn’t occur in the block where I live, I don’t care”
Now, fornication invaded Joha’s block, but still he didn’t care as long as it hasn’t yet invaded his street. But a few days later, the same man came running and shouted, “Joha, Joha, you know…Now you have fornication in your street” Joha said, "I don't care as long as it is not in my house"
When fornication was practised in Joha's houjse, the same man informed Joha of the situation.
Do you know what Joha’s answer was?
Joha answered the man, “Well, still I do not care, as long as my asshole is saved”
End...
That is exactly Mubarak’s attitude, and the attitude of so many other Arab leaders. Mubarak is nicknamed by the Egyptians "the donkey" and "La vach qui ri/the laughing cow" after a swiss cheese brandname.
My rough translation of the song
Finally, yes...finally, ah...finally.
O donkey, I love you.
And for your own information, O donkey,
I become very sad,
When some one calls you "donkey" - O donkey.
Man, to all donkeys,
You're their uncle.
You've such a fearful kick.
And you want to eat cream instead of ""birseem"
When you were yet a child wearing a diaper,
Your father arranged for your birth such a big party.
He backed "fiteer" and invited all the donkeys.
In responce, all the donkeys came dancing.
No cows or buffalo,
And the food you offered, they kissed.
You're such a genuin-breed donkey;
A "baladi" beautiful one.
O donkey, I love you.
And for your own information, O donkey,
I become very sad,
When some one calls you "donkey" - O donkey.

You certainly did make me laugh. I will pass this video on to my "son" in Cairo. He might be too tired to laugh, but then again, he might not.
ReplyDeleteGosh I do not know why I have not been to your blog before. I love the colours etc etc. It certainly does work for you so that when you are telling miserable stuff it is still pretty to look at. HAHA. You are heretofore added to my list of cool blogs!
I am old enough to remember those other presidents but I was not all that middle east politically aware as I am now. It was not until the USS Liberty incident that I began to tie Egypt into MODERN stuff. Up until then, Egypt was just part of my own personal history and memories from the long distant past. I remember lives in Egypt very well, but somehow I had not looked at it today.
What I do not understand is, if Egypt was already kissing Israeli butt, why did they have that 6 day massacre, hardly a war? Why were the early zionists going around blowing up Egyptian theatres and hotels?
