Uri Avnery's Column: My quick answers to Uri's questions - Part 1.

If a real Commission of Inquiry had been set up (instead of the pathetic excuse for a commission), here are some of the questions it should have addressed:

1. Who is Afraid of a real Inquiry?

ANSWER: It goes without saying that who is afraid is Israel and the USA

2. Is it true that the US government has imposed a veto on the exchange of prisoners, on the grounds that it would strengthen Hamas?

ANSWER: Most probably. The US always veto anything that is not in the interest of Israel. She has been doing this for decades.

3. Has there been any discussion in our What is the real aim of the Gaza Strip blockade?

ANSWER: Israel's empty pretext is her own "security". If you mean the world's governments, their attitude is "who cares?".

4. If the aim is to prevent the flow of arms into the Strip, why are only 100 products allowed in (as compared to the more than 12 thousand products in an average Israeli supermarket)?

ANSWER: IT is quiet obvious that Israel's goal is starving the people of Gaza in order that they give up and leave, or become subservient to the Israeli's regime, and to force the Gazans to become impatient and rebel against their legitimate government, HAMAS, and follow the traitor Mahmoud Abbas whose salary is paid by Israel.

5. Why is it forbidden to bring in chocolate, toys, writing material, many kinds of fruits and vegetables (and why cinnamon but not coriander)?

ANSWER: As for chocolate, toys, these are luxury materials, and supplying them will defeat the Israel's purpose of torture. As for writing material, These are tools for education. And enemy's education is dangerous. As for the fruits and vegetables, these are items which are parts of any healthy diet. Supplying these items, again, defeats Israel's purpose of "Starve thy enemy, do not fatten him, but keep him on minimum".As for cinnamon, not coriander, it boggles me. LOL, may be coriander is like mustard seeds that can be processed by HAMAS to extract mustard gas and use it against Israel!!

6. What is the connection between the decision to forbid the import of construction materials for the replacement or repair of the thousands of buildings destroyed or damaged during the Cast Lead operation and the argument that they may serve Hamas for building bunkers – when more than enough materials for this purpose are brought into the Strip through the tunnels?

ANSWER: Though more than enough of construction materials, which I doubt as the dogs of the Egyptian corrupt regime are always on guard, the tunnels are dangerous and risky. So Israel's pretext is "keep your enemy exposed at all times so you can easily nail him".

7. Is the real aim of the blockade to turn the lives of the 1.5 million human beings in the Strip into hell, in the hope of inducing them to overthrow the Hamas regime?

ANSWER: Absolutely. And to isolate the Palestinians from from becoming aware of what is happening in their territorial water; the stealing by the Israelis of the Palestinians natural gas which is harvested  by American oil companies for Israel.

8. Since this has not happened, but – on the contrary – Hamas has become stronger during the three years of the blockade, did the government ever entertain second thoughts on this matter?

ANSWER: They've entertained many thoughts, of course, and they're all evil..none of them serves any interest but theirs. And they will materialize in time as long global government do not care.

9. Has the blockade been imposed in the hope of freeing the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit?

ANSWER: No. Shalit is a minute thing in the whole game. In fact, not freeing him is in favor of the advancement of  Israel's agenda. It keeps the Israeli public busy hating the Palestinians, and keeps Israel holding 100s of Palestinians in their prisons.

10. If so, has the blockade contributed anything to the realization of this aim, or has it been counter-productive?

ANSWER: Not so, and asked and answered above.

11. Why does the Israeli government refuse to exchange Shalit for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, when Hamas agrees to such a deal?

ANSWER: Asked and answered above.

10.government about fulfilling its undertaking in the Oslo agreement - to enable and encourage the development of the Gaza port - in a way that would prevent the passage of arms?

ANSWER: Passage of arms is not the main issue for the Israeli governments, neither is security. These are empty pretexts. The main issue is stealing  the Palestinian lands, and the Palestinian natural gas.

12.Why does the Israeli government declare again and again that the territorial waters of the Gaza strip are part of Israel’s own territorial waters, and that ships entering them “infringe on Israeli sovereignty”, contrary to the fact that the Gaza Strip was never annexed to Israel and that Israel officially announced in 2006 that it had “separated” itself from it?

ANSWER: To isolate, starve and suffocate the people of Gaza. Gaza has never been in history part of Israel even during their glorious times of king David and King Solomon. It has always been intensively populated by the "Philistines".
